About Albany Physiotherapy Clinic

Albany Physiotherapy is a trusted private practice that has been providing high quality physiotherapy services to people of all ages in Albany and the Great Southern region for over 20 years.

Led by our team of compassionate, experienced therapists, we offer customised treatment plans to help patients recover from injuries, manage chronic pain and conditions, regain mobility, and improve overall wellness.

Our goal is always to listen closely to our patients, understand their needs, and provide quality, personalised care in an accommodating environment.

Meet the team

zack from Albany Physio
Zack Abelsson
Physiotherapist

Zack graduated from Lund University in Sweden in 2023. He has experience across a broad range of physiotherapy settings including orthopaedics, respiratory conditions and fall prevention but has grown a particular interest in musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries. He has also completed postgraduate training in diagnostic ultrasound to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee injuries.

  • Sports and exercise-related injuries
  • Shoulder conditions (including bursitis, rotator cuff pathology and instability/dislocations)
  • Knee and ankle conditions (including ligament injuries, fractures and post-surgical rehabilitation)
  • Orthopaedic pre- and post-operative rehabilitation of the shoulder, hip and knee

Outside the clinic, Zack utilises his sporting background in competitive swimming to train for long-distance triathlons. When time allows, he enjoys the occasional round of golf, and on winter weekends you will often find him on the sidelines of a footy field as a team physio.

Completing her Doctor of Physiotherapy (D.PT) degree in 2015 from the University of Lahore, Hira joined Albany Physiotherapy in 2024 bringing valuable experience working across Pakistan, UAE, and Australia.

During her time in the UAE, Hira developed a strong interest in sports and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, incorporating a range of hands-on and evidence-based treatment approaches. She gained further experience in private practice managing a varied musculoskeletal caseload in Karratha before relocating to Albany.

  • Shoulder rehabilitation
  • Spinal physiotherapy (including low back and neck pain)
  • Temporomandibular Joint  / jaw pain (including locking, clicking, and restricted jaw movements)
  • Sports injury rehabilitation
  • Lower limb tendinopathy (including Achilles tendinopathy, gluteal tendinopathy)
  • Wrist overuse injuries (including De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis)

Hira is committed to ongoing professional development and strives to deliver high-quality, individualized care. She is passionate about patient education and enjoys supporting the wider Albany community to better understand and manage their physical health.

Emma is a dedicated and compassionate physiotherapist with a strong foundation in general musculoskeletal physiotherapy and is passionate in empowering her patients to progress toward self-management of their conditions.

Graduating from the Curtin University in 2013, Emma gained valuable practical experience at various prominent healthcare institutions including Royal Perth Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and Broome Heath Campus.

Emma has a particular interest in:

  • Paediatric musculoskeletal and developmental conditions
  • Spinal rehabilitation and pain (neck pain, upper and low back pain)
  • Postural imbalances
  • Knee and hip rehabilitation
  • Arthritis management
  • Plantar fasciitis and foot conditions

Having called Albany home for 12 years, she is excited to continue sharing her expertise and commitment with her local community.

Emma unwinds by exploring Albany’s natural beauty with her husband, daughters and her kelpie cross pet dog. She is also involved with leading Girl Guides and in various volunteer roles through Albany Baptist Church.

Senior Physiotherapist & Practice Owner

Anni Begutter is a senior physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience working across hospital and private practice settings. She graduated in 2009 in Finland and commenced her career in orthopaedics, traumatology, and neurology rehabilitation in a hospital setting.

Anni has called Australia home since 2012. She joined Albany Physiotherapy in 2018 after gaining experience in private practice physiotherapy in Queensland. In 2022, she became the owner of Albany Physiotherapy and remains actively involved in clinical practice, as well as the ongoing development and delivery of physiotherapy services within the clinic.

Anni is committed to providing evidence‑based, patient‑centred physiotherapy care and works collaboratively with her patients to support their rehabilitation and functional goals.

  • Spinal physiotherapy (low back and neck pain)
  • Vestibular rehabilitation (including vertigo)
  • Women’s health physiotherapy, including:
    • Bladder and bowel dysfunction
    • Pelvic organ prolapse (including pessary fitting and management)
    • Pelvic girdle pain
    • Pre‑ and postnatal physiotherapy

Outside of work, Anni enjoys life on her rural property with her family. She is a mother of two and, in her spare time, enjoys gardening, bushwalking, playing tennis, cycling, and exploring the local region.

Kristy Compton
Kristy Compton
Therapy Assistant

Kristy joined the team at Albany Physiotherapy as Therapy Assistant in 2025. She has completed Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance and Certificate III in Fitness and has extensive experience in Martial Arts both teaching and delivering classes in the local community.

Through her involvement in Martial Arts, Kristy developed an interest in body movement and how exercise benefits the body and mind.

Outside of work, Kristy enjoys many aspects of the outdoors; spending a lot of time on the beach surfing, swimming, bushwalking and being around nature.

Tracy Williams
Medical Receptionist

Tracy joined Albany Physiotherapy as a medical receptionist in 2024. She comes with a background in customer service in the agricultural industry, and is excited to bring her administrative and customer-focussed skills to the allied health space.

Outside of work, Tracy enjoys spending time with her family. She is the mother to two teenage girls, and also volunteers as a coach for basketball and netball in her spare time.

Janine Woods
Medical Receptionist

Janine joined the Albany Physiotherapy team in 2024. She comes with extensive administrative experience in the medical field, having previously worked in both a GP clinic, as well as a dental setting for many years.

Janine lives in the Albany region with her husband, and enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys walking, hiking and paddleboarding.
